I think that will be in another blog post though… Those were the days and these days the only thing I that will come close to it is people playing mind games and keeping me up late a night. What I do miss is playing Minesweeper and Checkers with my friends until 1 or 2 in the morning knowing I had to get up for school. TBH this is probably the reason I can touch type today so I am thankful for it in some respects. Minesweeper and Checkers on MSN MessengerĪh good old MSN Messenger. Who remembers the days of Windows XP when all you had to entertain you was that annoying Microsoft Word paperclip, drawing things in Paint, Solitaire and Pinball? But what I do know is that my futile attempts playing got me nowhere. Is it pairs, is it dominoes, I don’t know. ![]() I still don’t understand the concept of Mahjong Titans today. My most memorable version is the one on the Nintendo 64 and I remember spending hours playing as a child. How could I compile a list without this iconic game? I still hum the theme tune when I’m bored. If you remember the old school aerial view version, me and you can be friends. It’s all fun and games until you get an epidemic of Bloaty Head syndrome and your staff all demand raises… I’m not sure my young brain ever really knew how to play this but it was fun whilst I thought I knew how…Īnother game I’m still able to play today thanks to Origin. I now have a new one and I can’t wait to download The Sims 4 come payday. The Sims 3 was amazing in its own right but towards the end my laptop just gave up. My favourite game of all time… Who knew you could have more fun managing someone else’s life rather than your own? The Sims 1 build-mode soundtrack takes me back to a simpler whereas the expansion packs for The Sims 2 were perfect. It’s having pets without the mess, the cost or the responsiblity. You can probably guess I like managing and building stuff right? Kinda like being at work except its fun and I don’t get paid Zoo Tycoon was another game from my past I yearn to play these days. But enough of that conspiracy talk, I’m here to talk about the games I miss from yester – year.Īm I the only person who prefers building theme parks than actually going? Rollercoaster Tycoon was my JAM back in the day and I’m SO happy they released the iPad version so now I can build them to my heart’s content! My favourite level had to be Arid Heights, unlimited money lets you do anything and there is something satisfying about watching my guests have the time of their lives whilst I have mine. ![]() I do wonder how much of my life is being tracked from somewhere unknown. Now all you have to do is go to the App store or download a game from a non-existent cloud. Remember when it took 10 minutes for your PC to load up or when you had to blow into the cartridge to make sure it worked properly? It was a much simpler time. Perhaps its the same way I feel about Disney animation, much favoring the 2D world I grew up in versus the overpopulated Pixar times we live in. I just don’t know if life-like graphics impress me in all honesty. As much as I appreciate the phenomenal graphics that are around today, my heart yearns to go back to the days of 2D games and sub par graphics.
